How Can I Read 1,000 Books?
3 books a day for 1 year = 1,095 books
1 book a day for 3 years = 1,095 books
You can:
Read the same book over, and over, and over.
Read in any language.
Story Times count, too!
Read books from anywhere – home, daycare, libraries.
Count the book for each child if you are reading to more than one at a time.
Learn what research says about literacy development from birth to preschool and why reading to your children at this age is so important.

How the Program Works:
- Register for the program.
- Record books read in your online account.
- Bring your child to the library after reading 100 books to receive a milestone certificate.
- Certificates are awarded at 100 book increments.
- Attend quarterly and annual programs just for 1000 Books Before Kindergarten participants.
- Keep reading until you reach 1000 books.
- For extra engagement, use the printable progress log to provide a visual aid for your child.
